CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper is emphatically opposed to a recent rate increase request from the West Virginia-American Water Company.
In opposing the increase, Carper is joined by his fellow commissioners, Ben Salango and Lance Wheeler.
Displaying his opposition, Carper testified before the WV Public Service Commission this morning at 9:30 a.m. This was part of the American Water Rate Case Evidentiary Hearing.
Carper submitted written testimony in September, but chose to add his in-person testimony today for emphasis.
“The water company continues to ask for rate increases and the public cannot continue to pay an increase that could be $12 per average customer per month. I am testifying on behalf of the Commission and the citizens to ask the Public Service Commission to stop this rate increase,” Carper said.
