The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Little General, Bodyworks and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for the second year.
Below are the candidates for the first two weeks of the prep softball season. Voting will close Thursday, March 30 at 11:59 P.M. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here.
If the the top vote getter has already won a community choice poll, the next leading vote getter who has not won will be named that week’s community choice winner.

- Kayley Bane, Wyoming East – Bane hit .571 in 21 at-bats, slugging two home runs and six doubles, tying for the team lead with 13 RBI.
- Josi Ervin, Greenbrier East – Ervin went 3-1 in the circle to start the year, sticking out 31 batters in 18.2 innings of work while not allowing a single earned run.
- Delaney Buckland, Independence – Buckland had a stellar start to her senior season. She collected a 4-0 record, striking out 43 batters while allowing just one earned run. Fro good measure she also swatted her first career home run.
- Keandra Spurlock, Liberty – Spurlock batted .667 to start the season, swatting a home run and driving in four runs.
- Riley Riggs, Princeton – Riggs led her team with a .348 batting average while collecting eight hits and driving in a pair of runs for the Tigers.
- Aubrey Smallwood, Beckley – Smallwood pitched 23 innings, picking up a 1-2 record in the circle but was stellar, allowing juts two earned runs while striking out 54 batters. Asa hitter she batted .429 with two RBI and six hits total.
- Brilee Redden, Greenbrier West – Redden collected nine hits and drove in seven runs for the Cavaliers.
