CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Charleston is gearing up to host the USA Cycling Pro Road National Championships from May 14 to 19, 2024.
To aid residents, businesses, and visitors, the city has compiled detailed daily guidance covering commute adjustments, race routes, road closures, parking, and other pertinent information.
Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin highlighted the collaborative efforts involved in preparing for this event, ensuring smooth operations, public safety, and emergency response readiness.
“Our City Team – in collaboration with the Charleston CVB, USA Cycling, WV DOH, along with many folks in our community – have been working hard to prepare for the upcoming Pro Road National Championships,” said Goodwin.
“As with any large-scale, multi-day event – there are a lot of moving parts to consider – commuting, access to events and places, and always public safety.”

Due to the Time Trials on May 14 which falls on Election Day, some voting precincts will have alternate access routes. Early voting is available until May 11.
On Election Day, voters are advised on alternative routes to access Precincts 406, 170, and 17.
Precinct 406 (Mary C. Snow Elementary School): Enter and exit via 2nd Avenue and Florida Street instead of Kanawha Boulevard.
Precinct 170 (Terrace Park East): Enter via the westbound lane of Kanawha Boulevard or via California Avenue to Washington Street East to Michigan Avenue. Exit via Veazy Street to Washington Street East.
Precinct 174 (Carroll Terrace): Enter via the westbound lane of Kanawha Boulevard or via Virginia Street. Exit via Virginia Street.
