The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Bodyworks and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for the second year.
Below are the candidates for the fourth week of the boys basketball season. Voting will close Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 11:59 P.M. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores and statistics. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com.
- Braden Chapman, Shady Spring – Chapman averaged 16.3 points per game for the Tigers this week. He helped them down Class AAAA Princeton, Class A No. 1 James Monroe and Class AA No. 1 Bluefield to secure a perfect 3-0 week.
- Nik Fleming, Princeton – Fleming averaged 19.5 points per game as the Tigers went 1-1 with a win against Capital.
- Garrett Mitchell, Wyoming East – East finished a 2-1 week with wins over regional foe Mingo Central and PikeView. Mitchell averaged 13.3 points per game this past week.
- Jalen Cook, Liberty – Cook averaged 23 points and nine rebounds in three games, helping Liberty to a 2-1 record with wins against Richwood and Greenbrier West.
- Matt Light, Midland Trail – Trail secured wins over Sissonville and Meadow Bridge behind Light who averaged 20 points per game this week.
- John Rose, Greater Beckley – Rose scored 24 points to lead the Crusaders past Montcalm.
- Eli Allen, James Monroe – The Mavericks went 1-1 this past week with a 55-52 loss to Class AAA Shady Spring and a 71-59 win over Class A No. 3 Webster County.
- Adam Seams, Greenbrier East – Seams posted a triple double with 13 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists as Greenbrier East rallied from an 18-point deficit to down No. 4 Huntington.
- Trevor Kelly, Oak Hill – Kelley averaged 18 points and 11.5 rebounds for Oak Hill which swept the New River CTC Invitational with wins over Webster County and Wyoming East.
- Noah White, Montcalm – White averaged 23.5 points per game for Montcalm which finished with a 1-1 record this week, bearing River View.
- Nathan Riffe, PikeView – Riffe averaged 18 points per game, scoring 23 in a win against Independence.
- Cyrus Goodson, Independence – In his second game back Goodson scored 20 points, doing it all as Indy notched its first win of the season against Greenbrier West.
- Braydon Hawthorne, Beckley – Hawthorne only scored 19 points across three games but blocked 10 shots in two games in the New River CTC Invitational.
- Caleb Fuller, Bluefield – Fuller helped the Beavers go 1-1, averaging 13 points in games against Beckley and Shady Spring.
- Cruz Testerman, Summers County – Testerman scored 13 points, helping Summers secure a win over Meadow Bridge.
