CHARLESTON, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Charleston recently commissioned sculptor James Simon with James Simon studios to create two large scale figures.
According to the city, these figures are meant to represent traditional Appalachian music in a unique and vibrant way. Sculpted from clay and molded to a hollow concrete cast, the pieces traveled to Charleston and were carefully filled with additional concrete as they were assembled on site.
The sculptures now sit complete at the corner of Summers Street.
The City of Charleston shared a unique glimpse into the project’s installation on its Facebook page. Watch the video here.
