WELCH, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Welch held its municipal elections on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.
Voters chose incumbent Mayor Harold McBride with 242 votes over former Gary’s police chief Pat McKinney with 51 votes.
For council at large, Steve Ford, the incumbent, won with 166 votes, and Brian Mowdy beat incumbent James (Jim) Speer. Â Mowdy grabbed 153 votes, and Spence received 149 votes.
Councilmember Kathy Gentry ran unopposed for ward one and received 119 votes.
Councilmember William Spencer ran unopposed for ward two and received 50 votes.
Councilmember Michael Day ran unopposed for ward three and received 90 votes.
It should be noted that results are unofficial until the canvass is held. Â There are 17 provisional ballots, which could change the result of the close races for council at large.
