WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Clinch Resources Ltd. announced it has sold its first 11,000-ton train of commercial-grade metallurgical coal from its Lanes Branch surface mine in Wyoming County.
The company also announced that its first seaborne vessel carrying 65,000 tons of metallurgical coal is expected to ship in early September.
Company officials said the milestone marks the beginning of commercial shipments from the operation as production continues to expand.
“Reaching our first train sold and first vessel to ship from our high-quality Lanes Branch surface mine in Wyoming County, WV, continues to validate our operational strategy and the quality of our assets,” said Robert Gaylor, Clinch executive vice president.
“The recently purchased Cat HW 300 Highwall Miner has been mobilized to Lanes Branch, and we anticipate this unit entering production at the beginning of August. This will increase Lanes Branch production to more than 40,000 clean tons per month, with a goal of 80,000-plus clean tons per month by year’s end.”
Clinch Resources said the recently purchased highwall miner is expected to begin production at the start of August, increasing output at the Lanes Branch operation.
The Tennessee-based metallurgical coal producer is headquartered in Knoxville and operates mining assets in West Virginia. The company said it plans to supply high-quality coking coal to domestic and international steel manufacturers and is currently opening its first two mines.
