SAINT ALBANS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Emergency crews responded to a train derailment in central St. Albans early Sunday morning.
According to the Saint Albans Fire Department (SAFD), the train was hauling coal when it derailed, but there is no danger to the public.

The derailment has blocked the Boone Street, Walnut Street, and Spruce Street railroad crossings.
Authorities are urging residents to avoid the area and expect a lengthy recovery process.
No injuries have been reported in the incident.
As of 1:22 a.m., CSX Police have arrived on the scene and taken command of the response. The SAFD is now serving in a support role.
The incident was first reported shortly after midnight.
As a result, Sunday’s east and west Amtrak Cardinal trains have been canceled through West Virginia.
