ATHENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Concord University hosted its 2024 Homecoming proceedings over the weekend at which time Alumni Award recipients and Homecoming Royalty were announced.
Students, faculty, alumni, and community members made their way to “the Campus Beautiful” on Saturday to partake in the festivities, which included Concord’s annual Homecoming Parade and Bonfire, as well the CU After Hours event.
Hosted at University Point, CU After Hours featured live music from James Hart, complementary food, and the presentation of four Alumni Awards. These included the following:
Alumnus of the Year – presented to Eddie Adkins ’78
Golden Alumnus – presented to Paul Hodges ’64
Young Alumnus of the Year – presented to Jonathan Gore 11
Outstanding Alumnus of the Year – presented to Kara Dense ’95 and Dr. Jennifer George Bailey ’06
The Concord University Athletic Department on Saturday hosted its Hall of Fame induction ceremony and breakfast at the Jean and Jerry Beasley Student Center Ballroom for members and their families.
The Kegs & Eggs event brought students to University Point for made-to-order in letters and a live music performance from NBC’s The Voice contestant, Mor Ilderton. At the University Point lounge, members from the Concord Class of 1974 celebrated their 50th reunion.
Concord University’s own Mountain Lions football team took to the field to take on Glenville State in the traditional Homecoming football game matchup.
Halftime of the game saw 2024 Homecoming Royalty candidates take to the field, with Ms. Brooke Sears and Mr. Henry Wallace ultimately being crowned Concord University 2024 Homecoming Royalty by 2023 Homecoming Royalty, Ms. Molly Cook and Mr. Benjamin Bailey. Their sashes were presented by Concord University President, Kendra Boggess.
