KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects accused of stealing copper wire from a secured Optimum facility in the St. Albans area, causing widespread service disruptions.
According to the sheriff’s office, the suspects broke into the facility and stole copper wire, disrupting internet and phone service for approximately 18,000 Optimum customers across multiple counties.
Authorities said the outage affected families and businesses and also impacted some residents’ ability to contact 911 during emergencies.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office has released surveillance video of the two suspects and is asking anyone who recognizes them or has information about the theft to come forward.
