MULLENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Council on Aging held its Summer Health Fair event on Tuesday at the Wyoming County Senior Center.
The organization, which actively engages in providing low-cost services for members of the senior community, were joined by a number of vendors and providers at the Wyoming County Senior Center located in Mullens this week to promote access and information regarding resources and programs from which members of local senior communities may benefit.
Among the local entities and organizations present at Tuesday’s Health Fair event in support of the Council on Aging and local seniors were Highmark West Virginia, Hospice of Southern West Virginia, Humana, CenterWell Home Health, Beckley Healthcare Center, the Offices of United States Senator Joe Manchin with representative Ben Spurlock, Caption Call by Sorenson, PCH Home Health of Southern WV, and the Council on Aging State Health Insurance Assistance Program.
Seniors at the event along with staff were encouraged to pay a visit to each of the vendors participating in the fair for a chance to win a number of exciting giveaway prizes, including grilling utensils, a camping set, a Cracker Barrel gift card, WVU merchandise, and much more. Participating vendors were also treated to complimentary lunches for the event.
“We invited vendors that would benefit our seniors in ways related to helping improve or maintain their quality of life as it related to their health,” says Council on Aging Executive Director Jennifer Brown. “Each vendor brought a door prize with them and all the seniors that visited the booths were entered into the door prize giveaway, and we were able to give away some great things.”
