MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A couple is arrested after an attack took place over a vape.
On the morning of October 1, 2023, Mercer County Deputies N.J. Mason and T.A. Lacy responded to a call concerning a domestic dispute at a residence on Old Bramwell Road in the Brushfork area. Upon arrival, officers encountered Summer Harmon, who was visibly injured, with a swollen laceration above her left eye. Harmon alleged that the injury occurred at the home of her intimate partner, Roger Watkins.
Watkins reported to deputies that Harmon allegedly attacked him when he awoke, claiming she bit him, poked him in the eye, and twisted his finger during an argument involving a vape device. He speculated she might have been under the influence of drugs and stated that she sustained her injury by tripping over a speaker in his home. Officers noted visible marks on Watkins’ eye and hand, documenting them through photographs. Watkins confirmed that Harmon did not live at his residence.
Upon further questioning, Harmon claimed Watkins had choked her and held a knife to her throat. However, deputies observed no visible signs of neck injuries. Harmon, who appeared to be under the influence, repeatedly stated that Watkins was responsible for her eye injury, though she acknowledged his account that she had tripped over a speaker. She left the scene with a friend to seek medical treatment.

On October 3, Deputy Lacy attempted to follow up with Harmon but could not reach her. Subsequently, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department announced that warrants for domestic battery would be pursued for both Harmon and Watkins, pending further investigation.
