LYNCO, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Intense conditions continue to affect motorists across the state following heavy downpours which have led to substantial flooding in a number of areas on Friday.
The Oceana Fire Department reports Friday afternoon that crews with the department have been dispatched on a water rescue call with regard to a vehicle stuck in a flooded area in Lynco near Westside High School.
A statement from the Oceana Fire Department cautions drivers to avoid the area entirely due to the obstacles presented to travel, and appears to indicate that the roadside river has risen to such a point as to overtake the road itself.
“Absolutely do not attempt to drive through the water in Lynco especially,” read the statement. “That isn’t a flooded ditch line in the road, that is the river with strong currents.”
Uncooperative conditions have persisted throughout the day, with many schools throughout the state having been closed for Friday, including those in the Wyoming County area.
