GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Emergency crews from several agencies worked together Saturday night to rescue a group of people trapped deep inside a cave along Vago Road.
The call came in at 8:16 p.m., according to the Frankford Volunteer Fire Department.
Responders learned that one member of a cave exploration group had been injured about 2,500 feet inside the cave, with six other explorers still inside.
Frankford fire units quickly requested additional help, bringing in the Lewisburg Fire Department’s technical rope team, the Blacksburg Cave Rescue team, local cavers from Greenbrier Grotto, White Sulphur Springs Volunteer Fire Department, and White Sulphur Springs EMS.
Three separate rescue teams entered the cave and were able to safely bring everyone out. All agencies cleared the scene just after 11 p.m.
No further details on the extent of injuries were immediately released.
