FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Cy Persinger has officially announced his candidacy as a Republican for the West Virginia House of Delegates in the 51st District. Persinger is a lifelong resident of Fayette County.
“I believe that representation should be rooted in the people and communities it serves. I am running because the people I will represent deserve a strong, informed voice in the Legislature,” Persinger stated.
Persinger is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College, where he earned a Master of Business Administration, along with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Economics.
He currently works as a Business Analyst at Rainelle Medical Center, a role in which he focuses on supporting financial stability and improving access to healthcare services.
According to his campaign, Persinger’s professional experience has given him firsthand insight into how gaps in rural healthcare impact families across southern West Virginia, reinforcing the importance of protecting local medical services.
His platform also includes efforts to strengthen state and local economies while preserving West Virginia’s natural environment.
Education is another key focus of Persinger’s campaign.
He emphasizes investment in public education, including providing teachers with strong support systems, reducing unnecessary administrative requirements, and ensuring classrooms have adequate resources.
“As a product of public education in West Virginia, I have seen the significance that our educators have had on my life, as well as the lives of so many others. We must empower them with the support and resources to best prepare and educate our next generation,” he said.
Persinger also advocates for expanding vocational and technical training programs to provide pathways to skilled trade careers.
“Given the affordability crisis we are witnessing in our state, opportunities for good paying jobs are priceless. Ensuring that every person in West Virginia has access to modern and advanced training for skilled trade positions is vital to developing an economy that lifts up working families, keeps our young people here at home, and builds a stronger future for every community in our state,” Persinger stated.
Summarizing his candidacy, Persinger said, “I am running to protect and strengthen rural healthcare, support working families, strengthen our local economies, and ensure that the voices of people I represent are heard loud and clear in Charleston. My dream is for our district and the rest of West Virginia to be a place where people want to live, want to work, want to start businesses, and want to raise their families.”
