CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia Democratic Party (WVDP) has voiced strong opposition to an upcoming visit by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to the U.S. Treasury Department facility in Parkersburg.
The party warns that the initiative could threaten thousands of jobs in the region.
According to reports, DOGE is set to arrive in Parkersburg today, February 11, with plans to access the federal government’s central accounting system.
Jeff Fox, Wood County Democratic Party Chair, highlighted concerns over potential job losses.
“Our community relies heavily on the employment provided by the U.S. Treasury Office here in Parkersburg. The prospect of DOGE’s intervention raises serious concerns about job security for our residents who have dedicated their careers to public service,” Fox said.
West Virginia Democratic Party Chair Mike Pushkin criticized the motives behind DOGE’s actions.
“The so-called Department of Government Efficiency appears to be little more than a ‘Department of Score Settling,’ with Elon Musk targeting agencies and employees perceived as adversaries of President Trump,” Pushkin said.
“This initiative threatens not only the livelihoods of hardworking West Virginians but also the integrity of our public institutions.”
The WVDP is calling on Senator Shelley Moore Capito, Senator Jim Justice, Congresswoman Carol Miller, Congressman Riley Moore, and Governor Patrick Morrisey to push back against the initiative.
The party urged these officials to advocate for West Virginia jobs and oppose what they described as a “politically motivated witch hunt.”
