BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The United Way of Southern West Virginia hosted its Dancing with the Stars 2024 event over the weekend to an overwhelmingly positive reception.
The event was held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center and featured six couples competing to generate funds for the efforts of the United Way of Southern West Virginia.
“Our eleventh season of Dancing with the Stars was our biggest one yet!,” said United Way of Southern West Virginia Executive Director, Trena Decal of the event. “I’m grateful to the dancers and choreographers who worked so hard, the volunteers who made it a beautiful night for everyone, our sponsors who offset many of the expenses and our amazing community who contributed to the teams and bought tickets to the event.”
Team Martin and Karen claimed the top spot, raising $117,721.01 in funds, while Team Cole and Jamie secured second place, raising $89,460.64. Each team broke previous records for fundraising for a United Way of Southern West Virginia Dancing with the Stars team.
Team Owen and Jenna brought it $37,997.48, Team Brandon and Julia raised $28,350, Team Dr. Sangodeyi and Mary raised $23,522.48, and Team Bernie and Erica raised $14,428.87.
The total funds raised by the Dancing with the Stars 2024 teams is reported to have been a record-breaking $311,480.48, surpassing the $257,365 record set by last year’s Season 10 cast.
