PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A domestic dispute turned violent in Mercer County on Friday, May 9, 2025, resulting in the arrest of a local woman after an altercation left her 81-year-old father injured.
Deputies responded to a 911 call at approximately 1:54 p.m. at a residence on Old Gardner Road in Princeton. Upon arrival, officers found Melissa Brewer outside the home. When questioned, Brewer downplayed the incident, stating, “Me and my father were wrestling and he fell.”
Inside the residence, law enforcement found the elderly man lying injured near the back doorway. Visible injuries were noted on his face and neck. Due to the severity of his condition, he was quickly transported to a hospital. Before being taken by EMS, he told officers, “She grabbed ahold of me,” and added, “I do not want that [woman] in my house.”
A CPS worker who witnessed the incident described Brewer entering the home aggressively and initiating a confrontation, which escalated into physical violence. According to her, the man tried to stand up but was pushed, eventually falling and sustaining injuries near the fireplace and back porch.
The man’s wife, who was also present, confirmed that the altercation stemmed from a family dispute earlier in the day and stated that Brewer ignored multiple commands to leave the home before things turned physical.
Based on statements from witnesses and physical evidence at the scene, deputies determined Brewer to be the primary aggressor. She was arrested on a charge of Domestic Battery – First Offense and taken to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
