On December 10, 2022, the Captain James Allen Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met for their annual December Christmas Luncheon and Fundraiser. The Daughters of the American Revolution is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children. On the local level, our members are active supporting our Veterans, and other non-profit service groups in our area.
During the meeting, Chapter Regent Cecilia Chapman was honored to present Margaret “Peggy” Scheff a Forty Year Member Anniversary Pin. Ms. Scheff has been an active member with the John Beckley Chapter, having followed in her mother’s footsteps who was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Ms. Scheff currently serves as the Chapter’s Historian and Librarian. Peggy is also involved in other service areas in the community and serves as a member of the Friends of the Library.
The Captain John Allen Chapter was first organized in 1929 and has maintained an active membership since that time.
