MARSHALL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Republican Marshall County Delegate Charlie Reynolds has announced his resignation from the House of Delegates, stating that he is set to pursue a new endeavor.
Reynolds, who was elected to the House in 2020, says he has chosen to take a management position with the West Virginia Department of Highways (WVDOH) in District 6 resulting in his resignation from the House.
WVDOH District 6 consists of Brooke, Hancock, Marshall, Ohio, Tyler, and Wetzel counties.
Reynolds told LOOTPRESS that he is grateful to have had the opportunity to serve in the House, but is also glad to be back working closer to his family.
“It’s less than two minutes from my house and I get to spend time with my kids. Being a member of the House of Delegates was one of the greatest things I ever did in my life,” Reynolds said.
Reynolds says that he feels he will still be representing his constituents in his new role.
“I enjoyed what time I was able to serve my constituents and being in this new role I still believe I’ll be serving my constituents,” Reynolds explained. “We live in the greatest state and one day in the future, I may get back in the politics, but this time it was the right decision for me.”
Reynolds represented the 6th Delegate District in Charleston which consists of part of Marshall County, including the communities of Moundsville and Glen Dale.
Reynolds’ resignation was made official on Friday.
Gov. Justice will appoint a replacement to Reynolds’ seat once three applicants are sent to his desk by the Marshall County GOP.
