GLENWOOD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Deputies in Mason County say they discovered several dogs living in unsanitary conditions while attempting to serve an arrest warrant at a residence on Hannan Trace Road.
According to the Mason County Sheriff’s Department, deputies arrived at the home around 2:00 a.m. and knocked on the door, which was unsecured and came open. While clearing the residence for safety, deputies reported finding two small dogs confined in cages, a pit bull tied to a couch with a leash, and several cats inside the home.
Deputies noted there was no food or water available for the animals and observed large amounts of animal feces inside the cages and across the floor, along with trash throughout the residence.
911 dispatchers attempted to contact Mason and Cabell County Animal Control for assistance, but no contact was immediately made, according to the report. After clearing the residence, deputies secured the door and stated they would follow up with the Mason County Animal Shelter regarding the animals’ living conditions.
Deputies later requested that dispatch cancel attempts to contact Cabell County Animal Control as the investigation continues.
