TAZEWELL COUNTY, VA (LOOTPRESS) – A 911 dispatcher received a devastating call on Friday reporting a fire occurring at their own home.
According to the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, a Tazewell County 911 dispatcher took a call from someone reporting a house fire that happened to be the dispatcher’s own house.
Also living in the house was the dispatcher’s grandmother, who is a retired deputy sheriff. Everything was a loss including one family pet, but fortunately, both the dispatcher and retired deputy are safe.
“I want to thank the fast response and tremendous help of the Bandy Fire Department, Cedar Bluff Fire Department, Cedar Bluff Police Department, Richlands Fire & Rescue Departments, Baptist Valley Fire Department, and local representatives of the Red Cross,” said Tazewell County Sheriff Brian Hieatt.
“I am sure I may have left someone out but I am just very appreciative of such support from our first responders and such great community support for these people during this emergency, including Pastor Doug & Crystal Johnson and the Raven Assembly of God.”
