FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle crash with entrapment on U.S. Route 19 near Whitewater Avenue on July 7.
According to the Fayetteville Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the scene with Rescue 37 and Engine 32 after receiving reports of a vehicle accident involving a trapped occupant.
Upon arrival, crews found the northbound lanes of U.S. 19 blocked by two trucks after one vehicle struck the rear of the other. Firefighters provided first aid as needed and removed the door of one of the trucks to allow the driver to safely exit the vehicle.
Additional assistance was requested from Station 3, which responded with Brush 38 and Squad 35 to divert northbound traffic at Appalachian Drive onto Route 16. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Fayetteville Police Department and Oak Hill Police Department also assisted with traffic control.
Emergency crews remained on scene for approximately two hours before the northbound lanes of U.S. 19 were reopened to traffic.
