MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has picked the Mountaineers to beat Pitt in the Backyard Brawl.
On ESPN’s College GameDay, Johnson served as the celebrity guest picker for this Saturday’s show. Among the slate of games to be picked was WVU vs. Pitt, the 106th Backyard Brawl.
Former WVU kicker and Colts punter Pat McAfee, Dwayne Johnson, and Lee Corso all picked the Mountaineers to beat the Panthers.
Desmond Howard and Kirk Herbstreit both picked Pitt to beat WVU.
As an alumni of WVU, McAfee realizes the importance of the game.
“This is a lot of pride on the line for the state of West Virginia,” McAfee said live on College GameDay. “I think WVU gets a massive win at home.”
‘The Rock’ said WVU vs. Pitt was a very emotional pick for him.
“Coming out of high school [WVU and Pitt] recruited me and offered me scholarships, I took my official visits, one to Pitt and one to West Virginia,” Johnson said.
“West Virginia was amazing, Morgantown, but Pitt… gentlemen the cameras are rolling so I can’t tell you what I did that weekend,” Johnson told the College GameDay hosts.
“Out of respect for my boy, my brother Pat McAfee, alumni of West Virginia, that campus has never been the same since he left, I’m gonna go with West Virginia,” Johnson explained.
West Virginia hosts Pitt at Morgantown in the 106th Backyard Brawl which kicks off at 7:30 PM EST on ABC.
