MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Friday morning on Rocky Branch Road.
According to authorities, deputies responded to a suspicious person’s complaint at approximately 11:58 p.m. on March 7.
A caller reported seeing two unknown individuals with flashlights walking onto a neighbor’s property before turning the lights off.
While deputies were still speaking with the complainant at around 12:33 a.m. on March 8, Mercer County 911 received a call from an elderly man in the same area stating he had shot someone who had broken into his home.
The shooting resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman from the Princeton area.
Deputy M.C. Altice and Detective J.M. Pinter are leading the investigation.
No arrests have been made at this time.
