PHILIPPI, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Barbour County man was arrested Sunday, April 20, 2025, following a domestic altercation involving his partner at a residence on Stewarts Run Road near Philippi.
Deputies responded around 7:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a dispute between a woman and her partner of five months, identified as Jesse Losh. According to the complainant, the argument began as Losh was packing his belongings to leave the home.
During the dispute, Losh allegedly tried to forcibly take car keys from the woman’s hand, resulting in scratches to her left forearm. She also reported being pushed onto a bed during the altercation. Deputies noted visible superficial lacerations on her arm consistent with her statement.
Losh confirmed to officers that he attempted to pull the keys from her hand. A witness at the scene, the woman’s father, also told deputies he observed the two arguing outside and saw Losh grab both her keys and her arm.
Based on witness accounts and physical evidence, deputies determined there was probable cause to arrest Losh for unlawfully and intentionally making physical contact in a provoking manner.
Losh was taken into custody without incident and transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail. Authorities confirmed that he has no prior domestic battery convictions.
