BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A portion of Ewart Avenue in Beckley will temporarily close Tuesday, Aug. 25, as crews complete road improvements near the Exhibition Coal Mine.
The Beckley Sanitary Board said the closure will be near 513 Ewart Avenue, where a paving contractor is scheduled to complete grading, milling and paving along the curve in the roadway.
Ewart Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Adair Street and the entrance to the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine and Youth Museum. The closure is expected to begin and end on Aug. 25.
Residents who live within the closure area will continue to have access to their properties, although temporary disruptions may occur while work is underway.
Through traffic will be detoured using Exhibition Coal Mine Road and Adair Street. Detour signs will be posted, and motorists are asked to follow the signs and posted speed limits and allow additional travel time.
The Beckley Sanitary Board and City of Beckley said the work is part of infrastructure improvements and apologized for any inconvenience caused by the closure.
