OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) — What should have been a joyful celebration turned into a family dispute as a physical altercation broke out following Oak Hill High School’s graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
According to a report filed by Cpl. Korey D. M. Spears of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, who also serves as the Prevention Resource Officer at Oak Hill High, the incident occurred around the football field immediately following the commencement ceremony.
The dispute reportedly involved two half-sisters—Atasha Renee Rogers and Owynn Accura Rogers—and stemmed from a confrontation involving Owynn’s biological daughter, Myriah Tunstalle, whom Atasha Rogers has had full custody of for the past five years.
Owynn Rogers allegedly approached her daughter after the ceremony and attempted to engage with her, but Myriah appeared uncomfortable and unwilling to interact. Despite this, Owynn reportedly continued to pull on Myriah’s arm while directing her toward a small group of individuals associated with her.
Atasha Rogers observed the encounter and intervened, which quickly escalated into a verbal and physical altercation. Witnesses and school security footage confirm that Owynn struck Atasha on the left side of her face—twice—before the two women separated and moved toward the school parking lot. There, another physical altercation allegedly occurred after Owynn picked something up from the ground.
Security cameras on school property captured the events, and the footage supports the victim’s statements, according to investigators.
As of now, Cpl. Spears reports that domestic battery charges are being pursued against Owynn Rogers. The case remains under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.
No injuries to Myriah Tunstalle were reported.
