MOUNT NEBO, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A fatal two-vehicle collision occurred Monday morning, May 5, 2025, at approximately 9:22 a.m. at the intersection of US Route 19 and 41 in Mount Nebo.
According to the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department, a Subaru Outback traveling southbound on US Route 19 struck a West Virginia Department of Highways (WV DOH) dump truck that was stopped at a stoplight.
The occupants of the Subaru, identified as Ronald J. Carelli, 54, and Misty D. Carelli, 52, both of Hixson, Tennessee, were transported by ambulance to Summersville Regional Medical Center.
Misty Carelli was later airlifted to Charleston General Hospital and remains in critical condition.
Ronald Carelli, the driver of the Subaru, succumbed to his injuries at Summersville Regional Medical Center. Misty Carelli was a passenger in the vehicle.
The driver of the WV DOH dump truck was not injured in the incident.
The crash occurred under overcast weather conditions and remains under investigation.
The Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department is handling the investigation, led by Deputy M.A. Barber and assisted by Sgt. G.M. Auxier.
