COAL CITY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman has died following a house fire Saturday evening in Coal City, according to the Coal City Volunteer Fire Department.
At approximately 4:51 p.m. on March 8, Raleigh County 911 dispatched firefighters to the 100 block of Lynwinn Road for a reported structure fire with entrapment.
Coal City VFD Rescue 51 arrived within minutes to find heavy fire coming from the front of the home and bystanders attempting to pull the trapped victim through a window.
Firefighters successfully rescued the woman at 5:02 p.m. and transferred her to Coal City EMS.
She was later transported to a burn unit in Pittsburgh, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
