BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — On December 3, 2024, Beckley Police responded to an assault report at 102 Campbell Street, resulting in the arrest of two men for first-offense domestic battery.
According to police reports, officers arrived to find a male victim who alleged that his father, Weldon Foster, and roommate, Michael Wafford, attacked him after accusing him of stealing a THC vape pen. The victim stated that after denying the accusation, the pair struck him multiple times in the face, causing injuries, including bleeding from his mouth and nose.
Officers observed injuries consistent with the victim’s account. He waited at the police department for EMS assistance while authorities interviewed Foster and Wafford.
Suspects’ Statements Contradicted Evidence
Wafford claimed he was attempting to separate the parties during the altercation and denied being the aggressor. However, officers noticed abrasions on his right knuckles, which he explained were caused by striking a chair while attempting to hit the victim.
Foster provided a similar statement, asserting that Christopher was the aggressor and that Wafford intervened to break up the fight. Foster admitted to pushing the victim but denied instigating violence. Officers, however, observed that Foster’s knuckles were red and swollen, raising suspicions about his involvement.
Investigation Findings
The officers determined that Foster and Wafford’s accounts did not align with the victim’s injuries, which appeared consistent with defensive wounds. Evidence pointed to Foster and Wafford as the primary aggressors in the incident.
Both Foster and Wafford were taken into custody and transported to the Beckley Police Department for processing.
Charges and Detention
Following the investigation, Foster and Wafford were charged with first-offense domestic battery and transported to Southern Regional Jail.
