FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Fayette County Assessor’s Office and Tax Department will be closed Monday after flooding once again affected the offices.
Fayette County Assessor Tara Tyree announced the closure Sunday, saying cleanup and other necessary work will be conducted before the offices reopen to employees and the public.
“Due to our office flooding again, the Fayette County Assessor’s Office and Tax Department will be closed tomorrow for safety purposes while cleanup and necessary work are underway,” Tyree said.
Several services will remain available online during the closure. Property tax payments and tax receipt information can be accessed through the Fayette County website.
Vehicle registration and tag renewals can also be completed online through the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles. Tax receipt information needed for those renewals is available through the county website.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding as crews work to clean up the damage and make our offices safe for our employees and the public,” Tyree said.
The closure comes as Fayette County deals with flooding caused by heavy rainfall and storms Sunday.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone throughout Fayette County who has been affected by the flooding. Please stay safe,” Tyree said.
