FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Fayette County Humane Society is urgently seeking donations after a series of devastating medical emergencies involving several of their rescue dogs over the weekend.
In a statement posted to its Facebook page Tuesday, the organization described the past few days as “shattering,” with multiple animals requiring emergency care for life-threatening conditions.
One dog is currently hospitalized and fighting for her life after being diagnosed with parvovirus and suffering from seizures.
Another dog was diagnosed with tetanus — a rare but serious condition — and is now recovering in a foster home, though his treatment and rehabilitation will be lengthy and costly.
Adding to the heartbreak, a senior dog named Shiloh, who lived on the streets for seven years before being rescued, is now critically ill.
Staff say he has stopped eating and drinking and is being monitored closely at the vet. “We are terrified we might lose him before he ever gets the chance to know what real love feels like,” the statement read.
Another rescue dog recently underwent emergency surgery to remove a painful tumor, further straining the organization’s limited resources.
Donations can be made through PayPal (paypal.me/fayhswv) or Venmo (@Fayhswv).
Supporters may also mail checks to the Fayette County Humane Society at 513 Shelter Road, Fayetteville, WV 25840, or contribute directly to their account at Fayette Veterinary Hospital by calling 304-574-4838.
The organization also encourages the public to share their appeal on social media, noting that spreading the word could make all the difference.
