SMITHERS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Fayette County man has died following a bicycle accident on the Montgomery Bridge Monday.
According to the Montgomery Police Department, a 55-year-old male from Smithers died after falling off the Montgomery Bridge.
According to the initial investigation, police say the man was driving an electric bike across the bridge trying to beat an incoming thunderstorm.
Police believe the man took the curve from the bridge to U.S. Route 60 too wide resulting in the man crashing in the wall of the bridge and falling nearly thirty feet.
The investigation is ongoing.
