FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Organizers of the annual Community Thanksgiving Meal are seeking volunteers and donations as they prepare to serve free hot meals across the Fayette County area this Thanksgiving.
The meal is run entirely by volunteers and funded entirely through donations, with support from local churches, businesses and community organizations. Organizers say they distributed 4,000 free Thanksgiving meals last year.
Now in its third decade, the effort welcomes individuals and groups who want to help. Churches, clubs, businesses and other organizations are encouraged to get involved.
One longtime volunteer said their family has participated for more than 15 years and that their children have grown up helping serve the meals.
Those interested in volunteering, donating or partnering with the meal can call 304-382-1421. Organizers also encourage residents to follow and share the Community Thanksgiving Meal’s Facebook page for updates about volunteer opportunities.
