CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A FedEx shipping center in Charleston is set to permanently close next month as the company shifts services to other locations.
According to a press release sent to customers, the FedEx Ship Center on Greenbrier Street will permanently close on Aug. 29.
FedEx said the change is intended to improve the customer experience by providing better package tracking, faster deliveries and a simpler shipping process.
The company said customers will still be able to ship eligible packages and access pickup services through the FedEx Office location on Capitol Street, which will serve as the replacement location for the Greenbrier Street facility.
FedEx also addressed the impact on employees, saying affected workers are notified months in advance of closures and are provided with support as they explore opportunities both within and outside the company. Eligible employees will also receive severance packages where applicable.
The company said the changes are part of its ongoing efforts to streamline operations while maintaining shipping services for customers in the Charleston area.
