CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Charleston Mayor Amy Goodwin has ordered all City of Charleston flags at all City owned facilities to be displayed at half-staff in honor of the life and service of Kanawha County Commissioner Henry “Hoppy” Shores.
Shores served as a Kanawha County Commissioner for 42 years, making him the longest-serving Commissioner in the modern history of Kanawha County. City flags will remain at half-staff through the day of services, the Mayor said.
“Hoppy Shores had such a positive impact on our community. He had a passion and a commitment to serve. Hoppy always projected a warmth and kindness while remaining a fierce advocate for Kanawha County, our city and our great state,” Goodwin.
News of Shores’ passing was circulated yesterday evening. The time of services had not yet been set for the 92-year-old.
