OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Heavy rainfall throughout the day has led to rising waters and road closures in multiple areas of Fayette County, according to the Oak Hill Fire Department.
Emergency crews have been monitoring flood-prone areas and are now reporting streams overflowing their banks and low-lying areas becoming inundated.
Affected locations include Minden at Scrappers Corner, Scarbro, Glen Jean, Pax, Mt. Hope, and Page/Kincaid. Some roads in these areas are now impassable.
With rain expected to continue into the night, officials warn that flooding will worsen.
Residents are urged to stay aware of conditions, make relocation plans if necessary, and avoid driving through floodwaters.
Fayette County is under a Flood Warning until 2:45 AM Sunday.
