DUNBAR, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a Florida woman was arrested at a West Virginia motel following a four-day multistate manhunt.
Matthew Allen Waggle, 33, was taken into custody without incident at approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Super 8 Motel in Dunbar.
The arrest was carried out by the U.S. Marshals Service CUFFED Task Force in coordination with the Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities had obtained a warrant charging Waggle with first-degree murder on Aug. 19 after investigators identified him as the primary suspect in the death of 52-year-old Dawn Kriskewic, a hairdresser from Vero Beach, Florida.
According to reporting from WPEC and information from authorities, investigators used automated license plate readers, doorbell surveillance footage and the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office Real Time Crime Center to track Waggle as he traveled across several states.
Investigators said Waggle traveled from Orlando to Indian River County by Greyhound bus and Uber on Aug. 16 before Kriskewic was shot outside her residence.
Authorities said Kriskewic had previously ended a relationship with Waggle and had told coworkers at her hair salon that she did not want contact with him.
Following the shooting, investigators allege Waggle used an Uber to return to Orlando before boarding a Greyhound bus bound for North Carolina. Authorities eventually tracked him to West Virginia.
According to authorities, investigators located Waggle after the Real Time Crime Center tracked telephone calls made to the Dunbar motel by his ex-wife. Authorities said the ex-wife owned the handgun believed to have been used in the shooting.
The ex-wife was at the motel when law enforcement officers arrived. No charges against her were immediately announced.
Waggle remains incarcerated in West Virginia while awaiting extradition proceedings to Florida.
