MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On October 19, 2023, at the McDowell County Courthouse Annex in Welch, Anthony J. (TJ) Foltz was sworn in by Circuit Court Judge Rudolph J. Murensky, II, as the new McDowell County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney.
Foltz, the son of a coal miner and nurse, is a Wyoming County native. After graduating from Westside High School, Foltz obtained an education degree from Concord University. He then taught school in Wyoming County for 1 ½ years at Westside High and Road Branch Elementary schools.
While having the utmost respect for teachers, Foltz felt bound by the system on what he could accomplish for the community. Inspired by his wife, Lanie, Foltz passed the LSAT exam and attended Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Virginia.
Foltz stated, “I am excited to serve the people of McDowell County and I can’t think of anyone better than current Prosecutor Brittney Puckett and Assistant Prosecutor Brock Mounts, to guide me in this new position”.
Foltz feels that the law is “Ground Zero”. The law is where he feels he can have the most impact. Foltz stated he firmly believes McDowell County is the place fate has destined him to be.
Foltz family was in attendance to witness this momentous occasion of his career.
