(LOOTPRESS) – Former President Joseph R. Biden Jr. has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, a spokesperson confirmed Sunday.
The diagnosis followed the discovery of a small nodule during a recent medical evaluation. After further testing, doctors determined the cancer to be a more advanced type, though reportedly hormone-sensitive — a factor that typically improves treatment outcomes.
“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management,” the spokesperson said in a brief statement.
Biden, 82, and his family are currently working with his medical team to determine the best course of treatment. No specific treatment plan has been announced as of yet.
“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” the statement read.
Further details are expected in the coming days as the former president and his team assess next steps.
