BURKE MOUNTAIN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A break-in at a Bluestone Coal Preparation Plant has led to the arrest of four individuals.
The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department reports that, on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 10:30am, a complaint was received regarding an active breaking and entering incident.
It was reported that several men in a blue Chevrolet Silverado were on the property of the K2 coal preparation plant near Burke Mountain and appeared to be stealing property from the premises.
Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies responded quickly to the complaint, discovering the vehicle in question during active patrols of the area. Authorities attempted to conduct a traffic stop at which point the vehicle began to flee.
The pursuit was brought to a close near Pinnacle Creek, and three men were detained from within the vehicle. These individuals were observed to be, “covered in black coal dirt and coal mud and were sweating profusely,” according to the sheriff’s department. Authorities also made note of several items inside the vehicle which appeared to be property of the coal company.
Deputies were met at the scene by a Bluestone coal manager who assisted in determining the involvement of the suspects in multiple crimes at the K2 Preparation plant.
Law enforcement learned of a fourth individual who had been involved in the crimes but had not been located. With assistance from the West Virginia Natural Resources Police, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to successfully detain the final suspect.
The investigation into this incident remains ongoing. All four individuals are being held on $100,000 cash-only bonds through the Magistrate Court of Wyoming County.
