BEAVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Friends of Charity Auto Fair will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a live concert featuring Buddy Allen & The Cheat River Band on Saturday, July 11, at Raleigh County Memorial Airport.
The concert is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., immediately following the Car Show Awards Ceremony, and will serve as the finale to a day of automotive exhibits, family entertainment, food vendors, community activities and charitable fundraising.
Organizers said the event will commemorate two decades of bringing residents of southern West Virginia together in support of charitable causes.
Buddy Allen & The Cheat River Band, a West Virginia-based five-piece group, is known for performing a variety of musical genres, including country, southern rock, blues, bluegrass, classic country, oldies and rock ’n’ roll. The band has performed throughout the region and has shared the stage with nationally recognized artists and tribute acts.
The group features a range of musical talents, including vocals, guitars, fiddle, drums, bass, piano and harmonica.
“As we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Friends of Charity Auto Fair, we wanted to create an experience that honors the event’s history while bringing something special to our attendees,” said Jeri Knowlton, Director of Public Relations for Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
“Buddy Allen & The Cheat River Band is the perfect addition to help us celebrate two decades of community support, charitable giving, and unforgettable memories.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and remain after the awards ceremony to enjoy the concert while supporting the event’s charitable mission.
Founded in 2005, the Friends of Charity Auto Fair has grown into one of West Virginia’s largest automotive and community events.
The event was originally established by members of the mining industry, local business leaders and automotive enthusiasts to support the YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Sports Complex in Beckley.
