OCEANA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Oceana is reminding mobile vendors that a valid city business license is required before operating within city limits.
According to the city, the requirement applies to all mobile vendors, including food trucks, mobile boutiques and similar businesses. Vendors must obtain and display a valid business license before legally operating in Oceana.
Business licenses are available at Oceana City Hall during normal business hours. The annual license costs $250 and is valid for one year, from July 1 through June 30. In addition to obtaining a license, vendors are required to pay quarterly Business and Occupation (B&O) taxes on profits earned in Oceana.
City officials said the new fee schedule was first placed on the City Council agenda on April 9 and again on May 14. The updated fees were approved by council members and will take effect with the annual business license renewal beginning July 1.
The city noted the $250 fee is a one-time annual cost covering the full licensing period from July 1 through June 30. Officials also emphasized there are no additional event fees for licensed vendors at this time.
The city added that vendors are not currently required to collect the proposed 1% tax because it is still awaiting approval from the state.
