BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Operation Underdog is back in the community to make sure our canine friends get a fair wag in all the holiday festivities. They will be at Pet Supplies Plus today, October 14th, for their annual Halloween Pet Parade.
The Tricks and Treats event will be held from 5 to 8 pm. There is a pet costume contest beginning at 6 pm with registration starting at 5 pm. Awards will be given in multiple categories including Spookiest, Prettiest, Most Unique, Best Trick, Judges’ Favorite, Owner/pet Duos, and Best Former Underdog. There is a $10 entry fee per pet for the contest. Halloween photos of your pet will be available as well as the opportunity to get a free engraved ID tag for your furry friend. Fund raising raffles will also be held during the festivities. The organization is hosting an adoption event during the parade and contest. They will have some adorable pups available for meet and greets in hopes of finding a forever home.
Operation Underdog is an import part of caring for the animals in our local community. In addition to finding homes, they fund a program that has paid for the spay or neuter of over 300 animals already this year. They are responsible for giving away thousands of pounds of dog and cat food and cat litter, hundreds of ID tags, and paying for emergency care for animals in and out of their organization.
A long list of vendors is attending to help raise funds to support these endeavors. There will be hot chocolate and snacks from Debbi Miller to help keep everyone warm in the Autumn Evening. Other vendors and booths include: Pixel Teacups, Hot Momma Creations, Angel Kirk’s Resin Wares, LBK Tarts & Things, Olivia’s Handcrafted Goods, Small Town Freshies, Crazy Ink and Art, Rad Ranger, Enlightenment Fitness and Wellness, J&R Handmade Gifts, MIHOW, Cup of Grace Cupcakes, Harmony’s Breath, Loved at Last, Heart to Hands, Three Dog Designs, Appalachian Fashion, PyrogeesHandcrafter, and more.
