Injuries have hampered Beckley’s Adriana Law.
A shoulder issue last year cost her all of junior season and a combination of shoulder and knee injuries have slowed, and at times, held her out of games this season.
Or at least they did.
In Week 10 of the girls basketball season the senior averaged 16.6 points per game, helping the Lady Flying Eagles to a 3-0 record that week. For her efforts she was named the Lootpress Player of the Week.
The award is sponsored by the Law Offices of Brandon Steele and Bodyworks.
“We’re just glad to have her back and have her healthy,” Beckley coach Brian Nabors said. “Hopefully she’ll continue to get better and lead us through the postseason. We hope we can punch our ticket and we’re counting on her to lead her team.”
Watching the senior struggle to stay healthy over the last two seasons has been difficult for Nabors. When she was in elementary school he formed a relationship with her by helping her improve her game. He’s often stated the she, along with former Beckley point guard Cloey Frantz, are two of the most skilled players he’s had the opportunity to work with.
Her return to form helped the Lady Flying Eagles pick up wins against George Washington, Bluefield and Oak Hill, powering what was a six-game winning streak after a 2-10 start to the season.
During her surge, Nabors has seen that talent maximized now that she’s shaking those nagging injuries.
“She’s just getting healthy,” Nabors said. “She hasn’t been healthy for two years. It’s her time to shine and we just hope that she can lead us to accomplishing out goal.”
