Charleston – Alexis Bordas led No. 1 Wheeling Park to victory, pouring in 34 points as the Patriots defeated No. 8 Washington 82-36 Tuesday in the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
With he win the Patriots advance to Thursday’s Class AAAA state semifinal where they’ll face the winner of Cabell Midland-Spring Mills.
The 34-point showing from Bordas came on an 11 of 17 shooting effort and fell just four points short of breaking the Class AAAA state tournament scoring mark set by George Washington’s Kalissa Lacy (37) in 2021.
LaLa Woods flanked Bordas with 22 points while seven other Patriots found the scoring column.
Miriangelis Rivera led Washington with 11 points in the loss.
