Charleston – Emma Freels’ driving layup with 3.3 seconds left broke a 43-all tie and delivered North Marion a 45-43 victory over Ripley in the Class AAA sated semifinals Friday evening at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.

With the win North Marion advances to the Class AAA state championship where it will face the winner of Philip Barbour-Sissonville on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Ripley, which trailed by as many at 16 points early in the second quarter rallied with a 19-2 run to take a 23-22 lead into the break.
Trailing again by seven points in the fourth, Sophie Nichols nailed a pair of 3s to push the Vikings back on top but late turnovers created an opportunity for the Huskies to tie the game and eventually win it.
Freels led the Huskies with 17 points while Oilvia Toland netted 11.
Nichols led all scorers with 18 points, shooting 6 of 7 from beyond the arc.
