Charleston – No. 2 Gilmer County blocked 13 shots Wednesday afternoon, tying the Class A record in a 78-33 victory over No. 7 River View in the Class A state quarterfinals at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
With the win Gilmer advances to the Class A semis where it will face No. 3 Tucker County Friday at 7:15 p.m.
The 13 blocks tied the record set by Gilmer County in the 2016 state tournament.
Ava Dobbins led the charge with eight on the afternoon, adding 15 points. Allie Ellyson led Gilmer, and all scorers, with 19 points and seven steals.
River View was paced by Chasity Kennedy’s 11 points.
