ATHENS, WV (LOOTPRESS)– A 32-year-old golf tournament raises money for scholarships at Concord University.
A gift for $10,000 was received by the Concord University Foundation for their Pathways Retention Scholarship by the Homer K. Ball Golf Tournament.
This money can help 50 students in the upcoming academic year.
“The golf tournament has always supported student scholarships at Concord. This is just one more way we can continue to help students financially with earning their degrees,” said tournament organizer Greg Ball.
The Pathways Retention scholarship helps rising upper-level students from West Virginia. The Maier Foundation partnered to create this scholarship in 2015. This foundation also provides a matching gift for funds raised. More than $450,000 has been raised to help award over 175 scholarships to eligible students.
The golf tournament started in 1991 and was renamed after Homer K. Ball’s passing in 2008.
“The Ball family has been actively involved with supporting Concord for decades. We are grateful for their willingness to continue their efforts in raising much-needed funds for our students,” said Vice President for Advancement, Alicia Besenyei.
